The Swimways Program
We cater to all ages and swimming abilities at Swimways with 12 levels from aquababes to squads.
The Swimways program is skills based, not aged based, so students begin at the level that suits them and progress as their skills develop.
The Swimways program is comprehensive and, has the ability to take a student from basic water awareness right through to competitive swimming or professional lifeguarding.
Before a new student begins, we give them a complimentary swimming assessment, to make sure they start out at the right level.
Aquababes - Level 1
Aquababes is a water familiarisation class designed for parents and children over 6 months of age. These classes provide the parent with the knowledge and skills to assist the development of their child's water skills. Songs, games and fun activities are included in this class together with floating, submerging, hand paddling and kicking.
Swimways - Levels 2-10
These levels cater to children of all ages - from pre school to school age. This program ensures all children learn the basic swimming strokes and then develop their stroke technique whilst continuing to build their water safety knowledge.
Squads
Squad training ensures stroke and diving techniques are fine tuned. Correct race starts, turning and finishing techniques are introduced and rescue and resuscitation are reinforced. Students also have the option to obtain their lifeguard qualification.
Fast Track Program
Our Fast Track Program gives students concentrated lessons enabling them to progress their swimming skills faster.
Holiday Program
This is an intensive program format in which children attend one class per day over the school holidays. All Swimways students are encouraged to come along, giving them the opportunity to improve their skills in a short period of time.
Schools Program
Primary and secondary schools can participate in the Swimways program either one day a week over the period of a term, or as an intensive program in a shorter time. We can teach the Swimways program, or follow the Education Department program if required. We can also stage your swimming carnivals - contact the Swimways near you to make a booking.
Private Lessons
Private lessons can be arranged for a student who is particularly nervous in the water, has a learning difficulty or is mentally or physically impaired. We set goals with the student and parent and work towards them in our 30 minute classes.
Educational Courses
We offer water safety, bronze medallion, junior pool lifeguard and resuscitation courses in conjunction with RLSSA. Students who undertake these courses acquire general knowledge of aquatic environments and develop skills in water rescue, advanced water survival and CPR.
